Flugtag Photo Gallery From LBPOST.com Readers! by Ryan ZumMallen | Archive | 08.22.10 |
+ We were out there in Rainbow Harbor yesterday, bringing you pictures and video highlights from yesterday's extreme Red Bull Flugtag event, but we know that you were there too! The whole point of the LBPOST.com is to involve our readers in the news process, so if you'd like to submit photos, videos or stories of your experience yesterday then feel free to send an e-mail to ryan@lbpost.com and we'll post the best of the best right here in this article! We'll also include your name to credit you for your work, and if you'd like us to, your e-mail address so people can contact you. It's a great way to get your name out there, see your work in a local publication or just have fun sharing your experiences with your Long Beach neighbors. We've already received the photos below from local activist Justin Rudd, who took time away from organizing nearly every Belmont Shore event to attend Flugtag and send these images to the LBPOST.com! Join in the fun and have yours posted, too! UPDATE: Scroll down to see more photos from readers Liza Mitchell, Jean Hartman, Daniel Faessler, Andrew Schumer and Artyom Yakovlev! ![]() Photo by reader Liza Mitchell ![]() Photo by reader Jean Hartman ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() From reader Daniel Faessler ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Following photos by Andrew Schumer. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Following photos by Artyom Yakovlev. Yakovlev was actually the official team photographer of Flies Like A Butterfly, Stings Like A Ray comprised on CSULB students. Unfortunately, the team's giant stingray craft was damaged while awaiting takeoff and had to be thrown off in pieces, but Yakovlev's photos give us an inside look at the trials and heartbreak involved in the wackiness of Flugtag. Any captions below were provided by Yakovlev. Get 'em next time, guys! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() "The Stingray team has to improvise on the spot in order to fit the Stingray under the screen." ![]() ![]() ![]() "Unfortunately, a little mistake and an unexpected side wind caused the Stingray to turn over." ![]() "Unfortunately, the wind took the Ray off its base and broke the frame, leaving the only choice for the crew to throw it off the pier."

uhhh.... Bad photos. thumbs down. That event was hot and crowded. Everyone there looks like a gearhead or a tat-chest or a real 909er! I had a blasTY!!!! Kate K EVent was hilarious. Big screens were located within view, and we had no trouble seeing anything. Ear Force One (the president) was by far our favorite, but there's nothing as good as seeing Chuck NOrris take a header into the harbor. 105,000 people, and the only people we ran into whom we knew were our next door neighbors. Weird. WElcome all 909-ers! Spend your money here! (Then go home.) lbreader way too many pictures. I don't have time to go through all these crappy pictures just to see a few good ones. h8rs_gon_h8 y'all hators. you think you can take better pictures with your 1.3 megapixel camera? get off your lazy a** and go out there to the events and take pictures instead of complaining like a little b*****s
