Crawfish Festival Brings Cajun Flavor To Long Beach by Sander Roscoe Wolff | | 08.03.10 |
+ For more than 30 years, O Entertainment has been producing events around the Southland. It is perhaps best known for the Long Beach Crawfish Festival, which takes place this Saturday and Sunday, August 7th and 8th, at Rainbow Lagoon. The festival, now in its 17th year, boasts the largest crawfish cooker ever made, and features music, dancing, and complete dinners. In this brief video interview, Roy Hasset, President of O Entertainment, spoke with me about the event, his love of painting, and his fascination with the Watts Towers. Information and tickets are available at LongBeachCrawfishFestival.com. Related Stories: Roy Hasset, Queen Mary, Bristol Farms, Crawfish Festival, Lobster Festival, O Entertainment, Shoreline Park

To be fair Not to rain on your bayou, mon chere, but the lineup looks more zydeco than cajun. I like those sounds, and am thinking of going, but if I knew there was going to be ample cajun fiddling, I'd be there yesterday. Sander Thanks for clarifying that distinction! paul Sounds fun..going to hit the funkfest on pine on saturday and then the bayou on Sunday. Can't beat it with so much going on in Downtown Long Beach these days! just wondering isn't this the same man who ran Green On the Hill in signal Hill into the ground - literally? Sander Green On The Hill! I remember that fun scene. Frankly, I am not sure if he was involved with that or not. Whatever shortcomings he may have had there, I guess you can't argue too much with an event that has had 17 successful years. BTW, if you visit his company's website, you'll notice that, in addition to the events in Long Beach, they also produce the Santa Ana Summer Festival, the Arab American Festival in Garden Grove, the Fall Fair in El Monte, and Tustin Tiller Days. They're also launching a new event in Long Beach: Oktoberfest. So, clearly, they've found a way to be successful, even if there have been a few failures along the way.
