9:00am | Authorities discovered the body of a 27-year old female early on Monday morning who apparently had been shot to death in the North Long Beach neighborhood of 300 East 56th Street.

A passerby saw the body lying in the parkway early on Monday morning and called 9-1-1. The Fire Department responded and notified the Police Department, who arrived around 6:30am and discovered multiple gunshot wounds to the woman's torso. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman's name is not being released pending notification of her family.

Police believe that the shooting may have occurred during the night late on Sunday or early on Monday, based on a preliminary investigation.
