Meetings Address Anaheim Street Business Issues by Ryan ZumMallen | Archive | 02.09.11 |
+ 10:47am | A series of educational workshops about the Anaheim Street corridor of Long Beach will start tomorrow with guest speakers and the presentation of an in-depth survey of the local business community. The Regional Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and California State University Long Beach (CSULB) Center for Community Engagement are teaming up to host the series of speakers and discussions on the state of businesses along Anaheim Street. The first will be held on Thursday from 11:30am-1:00pm at Taco Loco at 1465 Magnolia Avenue. Guest speakers include Seyed Jalali of the Long Beach Redevelopment Agency and Margaret Madden of the Neighborhood Resource Center. Also in attendance will be Commander Josef Levy of the Long Beach Police Department to discuss local crime statistics, Cathy Alvarez-Ortiz of the Internal Revenue Service to discuss tools to succeed and Jay Torres of United Healthcare to discuss employee health benefits. The following two events in the series will be held Thursday, February 17 and Thursday, February 24 at the same time and place. The RHCC and CSULB recently completed a comprehensive survey of Anaheim Street corridor businesses to determine current issues and needs, developing the speaker series program based on their findings. The goal is to increase collaboration between government entities and the local business community. Call (562) 212-2889 to RSVP, or e-mail info@regionalhispaniccc.org.
