11:30am | The Long Beach Redevelopment Agency yesterday unanimously approved a $59 million budget for Fiscal Year 2011 that includes updated plans for the downtown, central, north, west, surrounding Poly High neighborhood and Los Altos areas of the city.

The budget also included a $6 million payment made to the state of California, as mandated by the state's raid last year on local redevelopment funds in order to boost its troubled budget. The Long Beach RDA was instructed to pay $36 million, and paid $30 million of that last year. The agency cut $10 million in projects last year to make the payment.

the link to the RDA mtg agenda takes you to a comment page somewhere else. I have been waiting for the community comment period for the Downtown Plan, any idea when the Community Plan will be up for community discussion again ?

Approving a budget is one of the easiest decisions a board of directors can make...It's coming up with the funds is what is difficult. I could approve myself a $1 Million dollar budget...the fact that I only make $50,000 a year is irrelevant to approving my budget.
