While researching our story Vanishing Act: How We Get Our Water... And Why It's Almost Gone, we compiled more than 200 images as we followed the water from the Hoover Dam to your water faucet. Unfortunately, we were only able to use four in the story. But some of the photos were too good to disappear forever, so we've compiled a small slideshow of some of the best ones here. Check it out!

Also, here's an image that is just too good not to post. Taken from the top of a hill overlooking a water pumping plant, it shows the pipes carrying water down the hill from a reservoir, and a man-made lake off to the left.

Beautiful!

This is the Gene Camp, California PUMP plant on the Colorado River Aqueduct of the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California. It is NOT a treatment plant. There are major differences between the two.
