VIDEO: Fly Over the Future Long Beach Kroc Center! by Ryan ZumMallen | Archive | 07.02.09 |
+ Yesterday, we brought you one video of the future interior lobby of the Long Beach Kroc Center. Today, we present more than a minute of video rendering designs that make the community center seem as real as can be. From helicopter flybys to on the ground zooming, grab a towel - the swimming pools look great! allowfullscreen="true" height="515" width="636">The Kroc Center will present an Environmental Impact Report to the Long Beach City Council on July 21. If approved, plans will move forward to begin grading the land in September and construction will break ground sometime in the Spring of 2010. Related Stories: Kroc Center

Dave in Alamitos Beach This looks great but I hope it's not completely set in stone. Those parking lots need a lot more shade to counter the "heat island" effect. Palm trees are not going to cut it, but even so, there's not enough. And I really hope those buildings don't get covered in gang graffiti. LEED in Long Beach I absolutely agree with Dave. For a City that is setting development trends along the southern California coastline, I feel it is the duty of Long Beach to be an example and set itself as a leader in the Sustainable Revolution; giving new meaning and pride to our city along with a sense of responsibility and awareness. It is sad to see another example of sprawling parking lots, unused rooftops, and uninspired landscape. Hopefully this rendering represents a VERY preliminary design scheme and will improve tremendously before breaking ground. Alex It looks amazing but what is it? Bill Orton The proposed $140 million Kroc Center will transform Long Beach, as a world-class training ground for artists, athletes and technolgy gurus. When complete, the Center will draw talent from around the country to mix with city residents. This is on par with the development of a new college or regional park, in terms of significance for our city. Councilman Dee Andrews and his chief, John Edmond, deserve a tremendous amount of credit for making the final fundraising push for this gem. Anyone wishing to make a lasting impact on the city would be well served to consider donating to make this amazing facility a reality.
