Sexual Assault Suspect Sought, After Ocean/Cherry Attack by Ryan ZumMallen | Archive | 01.04.10 |
+ Police have released an artist’s sketch of a suspect in connection with a sexual assault that occurred last week on December 30, at 8:00pm near the intersection of Ocean Boulevard and Cherry Avenue. If you have any information about the suspect sketch at right, call the Long Beach Police Dispatch Center at 562.435.6711 or the Long Beach Police Department Sex Crimes Tip line at 562.570.7878. The suspect is a Hispanic male between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-11 of average build, wearing a black ski mask with red trim around the eyes. The suspect is believed to have green/hazel eyes, long eyelashes and a small pockmark-type scar above his right eyebrow, according to a press release. Police believe last week’s incident links the suspect to another sexual assault that occurred in August, 2008. In both attacks the suspect entered his victims’ property through unlocked windows. Police say that last week the man confronted a woman in her mid-20s as she stepped out of the shower and forced her into the living room where the assault occurred. The nature of the attack leads detectives to believe the suspect is connected to the August 2008 attack. Police remind residents to check your homes for unlocked doors and windows.

Pam Horrible. I only wish I had information to turn this monster in. I don't care if you live in the finest neighborhood or in the ghetto...bad guys are everywhere preying on women and children. LOCK YOU WINDOWS AND DOORS!! Paul To Pam. Long Beach has a self imposed "Getto." When it comes to elections, vote safety, not for the inside,"Family" many of whom don't live here. CHARLIE I'm not trying to be a smart a**, BUT, if the suspect was wearing a black ski mask with red trim around the eye openings, how could you determine the guy was hispanic or display a sketch of his face? Ryan ZumMallen, Editor CHARLIE, the suspect was wearing the mask during the attack in 2008 and based on the details of the break-in and the attack, Police believe the same person is responsible for last week's attack (during which, he was not wearing a mask). Sorry for any confusion. CHARLIE Thanks, Ryan; So then it's a wild a** guess on the part of the LB detectives - Lots of luck on that one CHARLIE Well let's try that again, and thank you,Ryan, for clearing up the confusion, BUT, unless the detectives have something else like a finger print, hair, D&A or some physical means to match up with - lots of luck with a wild hair guess! Angel I am confident that our LB police officers will get this scumbag criminal off our streets and put him behind bars! CHARLIE Don't bet on it Angel - this guy is no dummy...
