+ 10:55am Saturday | After our coverage of the demonstration and counter-protest outside Wilson High School, members of the anti-gay and racially discriminatory Westboro Baptist Church sent photos and a message to the LBPOST.com. style="border: 1px solid black; margin: 2px; width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://www.lbpost.com/images/image1266680280-95842.jpg">Rocks thrown at the window of our vehicle, violent/loud/filthy-talking beasts masquerading as Long Beach citizens, and officers who just watch instead of keeping the peace - doesn't constitute a "peaceful protest." A flipper finger in the face doesn't constitute a "peaceful protest." Rebekah Phelps-Roper  Phelps-Roper also sent a photo of the group protesting outside the Long Beach Police Department. They are scheduled to protest there again at 3:00pm today. Joe in LB Her comment on "stop lying" would be comical considering her signs seem to imply SHE knows the WILL of God!!! And lady, in LB if you are holding up signs aimed at enragageing the populus and all you get by a mob of thousands are swear words, the finger then consider yourself lucky. As far as our OUTSTANDING Long Beach Police Department...they were FANTASTIC in allowing ALL AMERICANS at the protest to have there say...lets face it after all your hate...your still alive to go on and hate some more...KUDOS to the LBPD!!! Instead, why don't you stay in Kansas, tend your cattle and sheep and learn a little more about Jesus Christ and the Christian religion? Hatred towards any group does not square with the Christian faith. Go back to Kansas, read your Bible again and ask Jesus to forgive you for YOUR sins. If I could just say when the civil rights struggles went on for black equal rights segregation vs. integration white people pitted Malcolm X against Martin Luther King Jr. over their approach when in truth they stood on the same side of civil rights. Name calling here is also not in line with Jesus' teachings. However, what concerns me most, beyond the WBC's hate spewing, is how they are raising their children in their compound. I strongly believe that they should be investigated not by the state of Kansas, because the WBC's attorneys are too immersed in the state, but by the U.S. government. lbnative I find the WBC to have that weird creepy cult like smile? Kind of like the people of Jonestown. What a freak show they are! TeaDough I was at the weekend long counter-protest and am so very proud to see the various social classes come together & making it clear - HATRED IS NOT WELCOME. a side note: a bit of further digging on the Phelps family brought up a couple of interesting facts. 1. They make it A POINT to leave picket sites earlier than they say they will. WHY? "This is another way they try to make money. If they aren't attacked, they'll run away, and then sue the town for not providing adequate protection to make them feel safe."
