On Saturday, March 28th, the Arts Council for Long Beach, in conjunction with the Economic Development and Cultural Affairs bureau of the City of Long Beach and the Los Angeles County Arts Commission, presents "Create Long Beach," a community forum that's seeking your participation in formulating the City's Cultural Master Plan.  This document will help guide municipal leaders in

advancing existing cultural and artistic assets, and in using them to improve the quality of life for everyone.

Robert Swayze, manager of Economic Development and Cultural Affairs, has been a leader in formulating a vision for the City's cultural future.  He took time to speak with me about the upcoming event, the formulation of the Cultural Affairs division, and the opportunities and challenges that await us.

The conversation runs 48 minutes and 32 seconds.

"Create Long Beach" runs from 9 AM to 12:30 PM, and takes place at The Museum of Latin American Art, which is located at 628 Alamitos Avenue, just South of 7th Street.  Please arrive a few minutes early so the process can begin on time.

Hi Sander, Thanks for the great article. Your timing, as always, is excellent and I hope that it will encourage lots of people to come out to the community meeting on Saturday. The team who are working on "Create Long Beach" really need to hear from ALL parts of the Long Beach community.

Sander lives with his wife, step-daughter, dogs, and cats. He's an avid photographer, and enjoys creating close-up images of flowers and plants, and capturing urban landscapes. He's been involved in music production since the early 80's, and worked professionally as an audio engineer, live sound mixer, and producer.

Sander Roscoe Wolff is a musician, artist, and was co-founder and Executive Director of LongBeachCulture.org, the City's first comprehensive, and free, arts calendar and registry.

He has served on the boards of the 2nd City Council Art Gallery + Performance Space and the East Village Arts District, curated a 6 month gallery exhibition in the Long Beach World Trade Center, and produced Songs For Bethune, a CD of original and traditional holiday songs by local artists, to raise funds for the Arts Council's Passport to the Arts program.

His work has been featured in local gallery exhibitions, in SoundWalk, and L.A. Siggraph's Photon Ballet.

His current music project is Ain Soph Aur, a systems based improvisational performance duo and studio team.
