TO DO: This Week's LB Sports Calendar

Wondering what to do this week?  We've got some great games to check out!

Tuesday will be a slowish day, but we recommend you check out Cabrillo at Poly girls' soccer, at 3pm, and then join us at The Grand at 6pm for a Century Club meeting.

Wednesday will go down as another great Signing Day in Long Beach, as athletes from all seven Moore League school sign national letters of intent to continue their career at a number of different universities.  Be sure to come back here for all your info.

Thursday you'll want to save your strength for, since Long Beach State welcomes Fullerton into the Myd at 8pm, in a game that will be televised live on ESPNU.  Great chance to come heckle at a heated rivalry.

Friday we help honor a Long Beach legend at the public memorial of Dr. John Kashiwabara, our friend and yours, at the Pyramid at 3pm.  That night you want to be in the Poly gym from 5pm till close, for a great boys' and girls' basketball doubleheader between the Rabbits and Panthers.

Saturday get up early with use for the Moore League wrestling finals, which we're previewing every day with the help of Brian Baiotto.  Matches start at 9am at Wilson.  That night the Pyramid will be rocking for Bryon Russell's jersey retirement at 5pm.  Oh, and the basketball team is playing Northridge, too.

Sunday is the National Holiday of American Sports, a day that gets me so excited I use Unnecessary Capitalizations.  That's right, it's SUPER BOWL Sunday; we'll be at Legends, where they're giving away $40,000 of prizes to guests, and where they expect to serve a half ton of chicken wings.  In other words, the Super Bowl is to chickens what Thanksgiving is to turkeys.

The Laker Girls will apparently be at the Jordan/Poly game Friday night signing autographs, so that's even more reason to go.

Also, on Saturday the LB Poly girls' basketball team hosts Whitney Young from Chicago at 6:30 PM. They are ranked #5 nationally by maxpreps, so it should be a great game at Ron Palmer Pavilion.

laker girls?! i feel like we should have been notified about that!

im an idiot for forgetting the Whit Young game; they're a great team, consensus top 15 and top 10 on USA Today. Coach Buggs said they played Bolingbrook (who Poly already beat this year and is another top-20 team) for Illinois' state title last year. Whit Young is at Poly on a Western swing, they play Mater Dei the night before

Ditch the Myd for some ice hockey on Thursday when the no. 7 San Jose Spartans battle the 49ers. Season series is tied 1-1, but the 49ers have won 7 in a row! www.lbsuicehockey.com
