ML Girls' Soccer: Wilson, Poly & Millikan Take Care Of Business by J.J. Fiddler | General | 02.02.10 | | Text Size: +
Poly 1 Cabrillo 0 Megan Brock's 17th minute goal in the top left hand corner from Keyana Thompson-Shaw proved to be the game winner as the Jackrabbits got great play from defenders Sam Shier, Elliott Gentile, Taylor-Erin Carter and Ebonie Buenrostro on the way to their fifth league shutout. Poly (6-1-2) outshot Cabrillo 12-to-3 and Jackrabbit goaltenders Corrin Villasenor and Celeste Moncure saw only a handful of shots on goal, even though the Jaguars (2-6-1) made a push at the end and got a great opportunity at the tie. Wilson 9 Jordan 0 In the second of four games this week for the Bruins (7-0-1) coach Jason Kirkwood played his bench yesterday, and the young up-and-comers did not disappoint. Junior midfielder Raeline Gonzalez recorded three goals in the first half, and freshman defender Auset Hood added a hat trick of her own in the second half. Freshman forward Chloe Gharios scored once in each half. Millikan 5 Compton 0 In their second game in as many days, the Rams (5-3-2) got back on track and cruised to a shutout victory. 3Lancers Watch your language BM! Sounds like Cabrillo played a excellent game, way to play girls. ram fan What the heck. Personal names and notations for Poly and Wilson????!!! A 20 word sentence for Millikan girls win with not one name mentioned? Nice. Not. JJ Okay guys, that's enough. I've had to take down two comments now. When it comes to amount of words for each school, you have to understand that when we can't attend every event. We rely on coaches and volunteers to report the scores to us. Anything beyond the scores is all based on if we talk to the coaches or players. It doesn't have anything to do with bias or favoritism. If you frequent this site you know we do our best to give everyone equal coverage, but we can't be everywhere. We'd like to, but it's physically impossible. @ ram fan: were you at the game? if so, send me the names and times for the goals. I'd be more than happy to update this story for you. It's the power of the internet people, you send it to us, we'll do what we do and get the word out. my email address is fiddler@lbpostsports.com. Hit me up instead of complaining on the comment section. firekillerlb I need to know how come the girls freshmen team is not noted here or on maxprep, these are some of the next up and coming players of the school and we need to look out for them. JR Salazar I guess we can all agree that Wilson is managing this four-game turnaround quite well so far. ya' gotta love it I am amazed how anyone can possibly whine at Mike or JJ for anything. No one does what these two guys do. They cover two, three and sometimes four stories/games per day, do video, contact coaches, take photos and spend each of every night during the school year until 2am and later putting up as much info as they can humanly collect so that the athletes in the Moore League get coverage......and do so for a very small payoff. You (Ram Fan) should be embarassed for not giving them the benefit of the doubt.
