This weekend was Lakewood Wrestling’s final Invitational Tournament of the year.

Lakewood Coach Andy Miramontes took a team of 10 Lakewood wrestlers to the Centennial Invitational Tournament at Centennial H.S. in Corona and seven of the ten brought home medals. Team Captains Kimo Napohaku (135lbs) and Cody Gurule (130lbs) both finished atop their weight class.  Kimo took the medal with two wins and two pins and Cody ran to the top of the medal stand with four pins.

Keoni Waiolama (171lbs) also took first place with four wins. Other medalists were Anthony Carmona in second place (122lbs), Travis Cardwell (119lbs) third place, Nathan Batres (152lbs) third place, and Mario Legaspi (189lbs) fifth place.

Decent performance, although this year's dual league meet season leaves much to be desired.

Wrestling Fan
Can't win em all JR, what pro sports teams out there have won 8 outa their last 11 seasons? And with a very young Varsity group, give em some slack! 10 of them had never wrestled Varsity before this year. Hopefully next year will be another story!! Great Job to Lakewood Wrestlers!

To Wrestling Fan
Tell that to Michael Jordan, and Royce Gracie prior to Sakuraba !

Should have been 9 out of 11, but point well taken. Nonetheless, I have thrown the gauntlet down and made the call.
