The Long Beach State women's basketball team (8-12, 4-3 BWC) begins the second half of Big West Conference play this week as it heads to Cal State Fullerton (Feb. 4) and Cal State Northridge (Feb. 6).

The 49ers are set to take on the Titans Thursday at 7 p.m., before heading to CSUN on Saturday for a 4 p.m. showdown.

Cal State Fullerton (9-12, 4-4 BWC) is coming off a 73-65 loss at UCIrvine (Jan. 30). Megan Richardson leads CSF on the season with 15.0 points per game. Lyndsey Grove (13.4 ppg) and Jasmine Scott (11.7 ppg) are also averaging double figures, while Grove is the team's leading rebounder with 5.0 boards per outing.

Cal State Northridge (3-15, 1-7 BWC) is coming off a pair of Big West losses as it fell at Long Beach State and UCSanta Barbara last week. Jasmine Erving and Bridgette Conejo are the Matadors' top scorers with 13.0 and 12.6 points per game, respectively. Katrina Thompson leads CSUNon the boards, averaging 5.9 rebounds per contest.

Long Beach State leads in its all-time series with Cal State Fullerton, 62-34. The Titans won the most recent meeting on Jan. 7, 2010, as they came back from a 17-point deficit to claim a 67-60 triumph at the Walter Pyramid. LBSU is 27-13 when playing in Fullerton.

The Beach also leads in its series with Cal State Northridge, 30-11. The 49ers have won the last two meetings, including a 65-49 victory last Saturday at the Walter Pyramid. LBSU is 10-5 when playing in Northridge.

After last season's performance I am very happy with the first half, and I actually believe they can improve in the 2nd half. One thing that would make me happy is a season sweep of UCSB!
