Three Dirtbags Selected To Tonight's MLB All-Star Game by Ryan ZumMallen | Sports Book | 07.13.10 |
+ ![]() Three former Long Beach State baseball players have been elected to represent their teams in the MLB All-Star game tonight in Anaheim. It's not difficult to guess which three. Evan Longoria of the Tampa Bay Rays, Troy Tulowitzki of the Colorado Rockies and Jared Weaver of the Anaheim Angels were elected to the esteemed honor by the fans and coaches. Of the three, only Longoria will play as Tulowitzki has a broken left wrist and Weaver started for the Angels on Sunday and therefore is not eligible to throw. This year, the honor is a homecoming of sorts for the three former Dirtbags, as the All-Star Game will be played just minutes away from where they honed their skills in college. Long Beach State has the most former players in the All-Star Game tonight, with Arizona State behind them with Dustin Pedroia and Andre Ethier. Anybody going to the game tonight?

Dirtbag Fan I laugh because you spelled the tough names correctly, Tulowitzki and Longoria, but mispelled JEred. I know it's an unusual spelling so completely understandable. Once a Dirtbag, always a Dirtbag. Go Jered, Evan and Tulo. Wish we were going to the game, but have to stay to watch our LBLL 12 year old All Stars defeat LVLL, a time honored rivalry. lvll fan lvll is soooo going to beat long beach that group of boys has beaten long beach the last two years and moved on. hopefully all the way to willimsport this year!!! LBLL Mom Well, I'll tell you one thing...if you even have an inkling you are going to "willimsport" you might want to learn to spell it. Not sure where "willimsport" is, but my plane ticket will say Williamsport. REAL Baseball To lvll and lbll mom...when your kids are playing real baseball like they do in the PONY organization, (PONY 9-10 yr. old's play on the same size field as your 12 yr olds and they can lead off and steal.)then maybe someone will care. It looks silly to anyone who has played Pony ball to see the 12 yr olds on that puny field and their short little fences. Dirtbag fan...watch the real all-stars lvll fan to "REAL baseball" little league 9-10s play n the same field as the 11-12s and how dare you say that PONY is better than little league when its the llws that gets on TV and has international level of play to "LBLL Mom" so what is is spelled "willimsport" at least llvl beat long beach...but lost their first two games in the next so their out but they wwent further than the LB boys WAY TO GO LVLL 11-12 ALL STARS 2010!!! GREAT JOB BOYS!
