The Long Beach PONY 13's baseball team continued their winning ways over the weekend, collecting three victories and earning them a place in the Super Regional Final Four to be played tonight.

An overall victory at the Final Four this week will put Long Beach PONY in the World Series. The team won the World Series in 2008 and was a runner-up in 2007.

"With this win, I feel the Long Beach magic is back!" said coach Stacy Ybarra. "The kids played as a team and the results were fantastic."

The squad defeated West Covina with a 5-2 win

on Friday night behind a complete game from Connor Dunlap, then picked up an 8-4 win over La Costa on Saturday night and a walk-off RBI from Max Whitt gave them the 3-2 win over Simi Youth A on Sunday. Before this weekend, the Simi team had not lost in two years.

"This was a very big win for us, a real character builder," said coach Jerry Barham. "Simi Youth was a great opponent, but the team never gave up and our successful execution at the end got us this very big win."

The team plays tonight at Amerige Park in Fullerton to kick off the Super Regional Final Four. Of the four remaining teams, the second and third finishers will advance to the next Zone tournament while the overall winner earns a bye into the PONY World Series. Tonight's game starts at 7:30pm.

Go Beach! Beat Irvine!

JR Salazar
A chance for payback for what UCI did to our Bags awaits. Go get em.

Beach
JR, you're comparing apples and oranges. Quit trying to say something simply for the sake of seeing your name in print.

JR Salazar
Beach, Take your comment up your posterior because it ain't gonna happen. What makes you think it will, fool? Irvine is still Irvine. I hate the city, and I despise the teams from there, especially with the Zot scum stealing our thunder the past few years. Awaiting the outcome.

Coach Ken
It did not end well again as Irvine wins 5-4, in a game that LB played less than than the stellar defense that was required. They battled back from a 4-0 deficit, to tie it up in the 6th...but Irvine plated the eventual winning run in the bottom of the 6th without the benefit of a basehit. Long Beach plays Chula Vista on Wednesday at 5:00 PM to advance to the Zone...the winner will open up the zone tournament against Heartwell.

JR Salazar
NOW do you understand why I hate Irvine, Beach? If not, I don't feel the least bit sorry for you.

JR Salazar
It is like the litte wagon who could. This is still not a rebutal for which in fact, I hate Irvine. And no, it is not that I can't afford to live there either.

Pony Fan
Long Beach Pony 13's were eliminated by Chula Vista 6-2....Season over.

Pony Fan
"With this win, I feel the Long Beach magic is back!" said coach Stacy Ybarra..........Which may explain the team's subsequent disappearing act.

@LB Pony fan
im sure it was coach ybarras quote that did them in. You idiot!

Heartwell is best
Heartwell will beat Chula Vista. The team that knocked out Long Beach Pony.

Pony Fan
"im sure it was coach ybarras quote that did them in"....Of course it wasn't, and nowhere did I say it was.....It was just an ironic use of the word "magic", which obviously had ZERO effect on future events.......Only one Pony All-Star team in the world ends the season with a win.

@Heartwell
Best of luck against Chula Vista. Knock them off, and you can claim to belong in that tournament. Until then, you've only won a free ride without beating anyone of significance. Chula Vista is the real deal!

yeah
heartwelll sucks

yeah
heartwelll sucks

mooreleaguefan
are they the same chula vista kids from the LLWS last year anyone?

Coach
Save it! Stacy Ybarra is a quality coach, and even better human being. His quotes, after their victory, were heart felt and sincere. Which are in the same manner in which he coaches. 'Pony Fan' you're a ZERO. Maybe that's why you're just a fan, and not on the field contributing. By the way, how does Heartwell suck? Didn't they beat Chula Vista?

LB PONY PLAYER
Coach Ybarra has taught me more about baseball this last year than I have learned ever before. Thank you coach!

@Heartwell
Heartwell plays Chula Vista on Saturday. They have not played outside of first tournament where they gave a 'free' ride to Heartwell after they won two games. They are still 2-0.

A whole 2 and 2. You must be proud.

"You must be proud"...I am proud to have the facts correct, unlike the lying SOB's before me.

JR Salazar
"It is like the litte wagon who could. This is still not a rebutal for which in fact, I hate Irvine. And no, it is not that I can't afford to live there either." Hold on here, I did not write this. Who are you? Show yourself, you fake.
