Both Long Beach Poly and Lakewood High's football teams moved up one spot in the newly-released PAC-5 Division polls today, after earning victories in their first games of the season over the weekend.

Formerly #2 Mater Dei fell in a 14-10 loss to Carson and dropped to #10, opening room for Poly to move into #3 and Lakewood into the #4 position. Poly held off a late rally to defeated Bakersfield 42-18 while Lakewood route Locke by a 49-0 score.

The final Moore League team to get a mention in the polls is none other than the Compton Tarbabes, who didn't make the Top Ten but received votes after defeating Monte Vista by a 34-14 score. The Wilson Bruins received votes last week but

were not mentioned in this week's poll after a 28-26 win over Huntington Park.

The Millikan Rams and Cabrillo Jaguars were the only Moore League teams to lose over the weekend, as the Rams dropped a 48-22 loss to the high-octane attack of Gahr and Cabrillo fell to Lincoln, 61-14.

WILSON IS BEING OVERLOOKE
Wilson should right up there with Poly and Lakewood. With Morales finally running the offense his way and Meyer running the defense and quality players, Wilson is being overloooked!

this is the week of "now lets see what we're really made of." good luck to all of the schools in the moore league. Go Poly!

FishTale
Wilson is never overlooked. You beat h park by two points and I heard they only played with there feet getting ready for the upcoming soccer season.... I love to see oceanside going down after all that ish they talked on Poly last year, p.s the rams beat poly last year so that's how much that win meant. My question is why did I have to check the press telegram site to find out the scores from the weekend on Saturday? What's going on with lbpost sports?

Ryan ZumMallen, Editor
@FishTale, we are still going to have plenty of Moore League coverage this year. It may be a little different but we're still dedicated to covering the best in Long Beach sports.

as long as lbposts keeps it real and unbiased the respect will grow thank you for continuing the popular coverage of fair reporting.

Moore League truest.
Stop with Wilson being good. They beat a JV HP team. Poly beat a good team and Lakewood beat a bunch of gangsters. Millikan lost with absolutely no OLine. Millikan lost to a a subpar team and I fear if there is no blocking there qb will get hurt and that team will be done. Wilson should not be lead in rushing by the qb. Compton quietly winning. They will be tough. Moore league will go like this.. Poly, Lakewood,Compton,Jordan,Millikan,Wilson,Cabrillo.

Gee whiz, what happened to Oaks Christian? Looks like they're gonna have a down year with Nick Montana already flying the coop. Alemany is on the rise again. Watch out for them.

Poly Realist
Poly is over rated and looked horrible tonight. The sooner they realise this the better. Man dawg they got crushed.

lakewood all the way
I wonder what Poly's excuse will be this year because laast year they said they are in the rebuilding stage....lol

lakewood all the way...
Moore league Truest- would you like to change your thoughts on poly being first...lol
